Emmaus Walk

Southside Involvement with the Emmaus Walk

The Emmaus non-denominational and evangelical movement commenced in the Northern Inland as far back as 1989. Since that time there has been a large number of Southside Uniting congregational members who have attended this annual three day retreat.

The Emmaus movement was designed predominantly to provide lay church leaders with an enriched appreciation of the all encompassing love of God as shown through the life and works of Jesus Christ. During this event pilgrims also hear first hand of how God has enhanced the lives of ordinary men and women.

It follows then that many of those who experience this wonderful spiritual boost should want to show their appreciation by adding to the richness of their present home-church activities. For others, just plucking up the courage to become involved in both church and community leadership roles has led to an amazing enhancement to their lives.

This has certainly been the case at Tamworth Southside Uniting where a large proportion of the congregation has attended an Emmaus Walk over the years.
