In the calling of being a lay preacher I am convinced that any spiritual understanding, any spiritual wisdom one may have are gifts of the Holy Spirit. One is moved to share such gifts of understanding and wisdom.
In preparing and giving a message there are two things I would hope people would feel afterwards:
1) Reassurance.
That what I am given to say will reassure people of the unconditional love God has for each of us as demonstrated in the life of Jesus.
2) Encouragement
That what I am given to say will encourage people in their belief, their faith as they live their lives as followers of Jesus.
